Calligraphy is a lifetime passion. From 2013, I offer professional calligraphy service, lettering and workshop, I ran a global crowdfunding project via Indiegogo calling for support, and raising awareness of dying calligraphy art.
I taught an applied calligraphy course in Birmingham Institute of Art & Design, UK and Southern Eastern Finland University, all course tuition fee was donated to BCU Kids to organise Christmas for disadvantaged children in Birmingham area.
My diploma thesis named “Applied calligraphy in graphic design education”, focus on pedagogical strategies for learning and teaching calligraphy in visual communications studies.
Applied calligraphy course for Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, England, October 2015 to December 2015. The course was my thesis work in "Application of Calligraphy in Graphic Design Education". Course fee, however, was all donated to Kids Adventure charity group to organise a cozy Christmas for orphans and disadvantaged children in Birmingham area.
The course covers copperplate & gothic calligraphy, digitising calligraphy for graphic communications.
100% students graded their skill at the end of the course very good to excellent.
Applied Calligraphy course for Kymenlaakson University of Applied Sciences, Finland from March 2014 to May 2014. The course was designed to both offer participants insight in techniques, and practical applications of Calligraphy. It introduced history of Western and Asian calligraphy, the role of calligraphy in East Asian culture. Course activities involves practising Western calligraphy ( copperplate, blackletter), Asian calligraphy ( brush and black ink), and application of modern calligraphy in graphic design.
Calligraphy pen is great for drawing. S is for Suomi- inspired by crowned heraldic lion in coat of arms of Finland
Departures (Japanese: おくりびと or Okuribito) 2008, is a touching movie about human life phases. The movie won Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film 2009. I interpreted the spirit of it as butterfly phases, then redesigned Okuribito poster and handdrawn a butterfly by calligraphy pen.
